Our gents' kilts are woven in Scotland using 8yards of wool.
The Black Watch tartan dates back as far as 1725 when King George I implemented a group of six companies that collectively served as something like Scotland's first police force. It was asked that all six companieswear similar tartans, and the result was the Black Watch tartan.
Black Watch is now considered a universal tartan, acceptable for anyone to wear, regardless of lineage.
With that said, the Black Watch tartanis theCampbell tartan, and it's the hunting tartan ofclansGrant&Munro. These families were closely involvedwiththe original Black Watch companies.
