The design of these gold and diamond earrings is based on the idea of a pattern.
The repeating patterns comprise a rose-cut diamond, dressed in a black square using techniques inspired by Hyderabadi kaam, atop two long leaves, set with brilliant-cut diamonds emanating from a ruby. Five rows of the repeating pattern run parallel one below the other, starting with one unit, going to two, three, and then back to two and one. Suspended from all decorations are fringes of seed pearls, along with gold and red enameled beads. The design showcases 10 man-hours of skillful pirai, the craft of stringing beads using thin gold wire.
The black of the squares is typical of the Hyderabadi technique and is used to bring out the brilliance of the rose cuts.
